I love that this book is straight to the point and such an easy read. It gets real and I personally think addresses topics that are considered the elephant(s) in the room that a lot of college counselors might not necessarily tell their students. It touches on a lot of topics that are beyond just the application but still integral to the process.The other reviews talk about how much they liked the sample essays which are undoubtedly valuable but my personal favorite is the section talking about how to approach recommendation letters because most people just hope whoever is writing writes them a good one.As a recruiter, I think even people not necessarily thinking about going back to school should read this. I think people could translate a lot of the skills needed to get into a good school into their job search. Ehem *proactivity* ehem. Normally I never leave reviews of books but after giving this one a read, I thought it'd be a shame if more people didn't read it. For the price of a cup of coffee, this book has an incredible amount of information from a guy who has 6 degrees and is working on his 7th (degrees are from Berkeley, Columbia, Emory, and FIT).Everything written is very straightforward (as you can imagine from the title) and each chapter is bite-sized (many chapters are just a page long) but I think that's the entire book's purpose - to give you a straightforward understanding of what you need to do to strategically succeed in admissions.The last part of the book is also where I think my purchase was completely worth it. It's always incredibly helpful to read successful essays and the ones included at the end of the book are gems.Overall, a really easy read, straight to the point, and well worth the money.
